Official Nottingham Forest vintage jersey - The second European Cup (1980)

The win in the European Cup in 1979 gave Forest the automatic pass to the European Cup the following year as current Champion.

The team of Brian Clough wins Östers, Arges Pitesti and Dinamo Berlin, reaching the semifinal against Ajax. In the first leg played in England are the top-scorers of Nottingham Forest to decide the game: Francis and Robertson. The 1-0 of Ajax in the re-match allows the Tricky Trees to play the European Cup final for the second year in a row.
In the Santiago Bernabéu of Madrid, against the German team of Hamburg S. V. (whose star was the Englishman Kevin Keegan), the Forest enters the field without his goalscorer Trevor Frencis. Thanks to the goal of John Robertson and a great performance by the defenders and goalkeeper Peter Shilton Nottingham Forest achieved the feat of to become back to back winners of the trophy, winning the 1980 European Cup.

Nottingham Forest F.C. it became the first team in Europe to have two European Cups in its trophy case and only one First Division title. That modest team from central England became in a matter of two years the King of Europe. It was unforgettable for The Tricky Trees, but also for the history of football.
