In 1976 Clough reformed the winning couple of 1972 with his assistant Peter Taylor. He is a talented scout and brings players like Martin O'Neil, Larry Loyd, the young Viv Anderson and one of the best Scottish wings ever: John Robertson to Nottingham. The Reds of Clough and Taylor make great use of the sidebands, and plays an aggressive football in every area of the field. The first title won was the 1976-77 Anglo-Scottish Cup, but at the end of the year, with a fortunate third place, they won the promotion in the First Division. After half a decade, Nottingham Forest returned to play in the English top flight.
