Switzerland retro football shirt

It was the National football team of Claudio Sulser, the Grasshopper's player who was the top scorer of the European Cup 1978-79.
The squad also included two of the most important footballers in Swiss history: midfielder Heinz Hermenn and defender Alain Geiger.

Switzerland tried to qualify for the 1982 World Cup in Spain since its last appearance in an international competition was at the 1966 World Cup.
The coach in the 80s was Paul Wolfisberg. In the first three games Switzerland lost 2-1 against Norway and England, drawing 2-2 against Hungary.
Then, the Swiss defeat England 2-1 and drew 1-1 in Norway. But they began to believe in qualifying after winning in Romania 2-1.
Unfortunately, the 0-0 draw in the last match against Romania meant the third place for Switzerland and their dreams vanished.

In October 1982, Switzerland won against Italy in a friendly match: the Italians had won the World Cup only 3 months earlier.

Vintage football shirt from Switzerland: red, with white stripes and the typical white cross. 50% cotton and 50% polyester. Made in Europe.
