Classic shirt of the Peru National Football Team, white with red diagonal stripe.
The 70s were the best time for Peru, in fact it was the third best team in South America, after Brazil and Argentina. We are referring to an extraordinary generation of world-class players such as Teófilo Cubillas, Héctor Chumpitaz and Hugo Sotil, along with Cesar Cueto, Roberto Challe, José Velásquez and Juan Carlos Oblitas.
In the 1970 World Cup, Peru reached the highest point in its history in the World Cup, the quarterfinals. In the first phase, the Peruvians beat Bulgaria 3-0, dispatched to Morocco 3-0, and lost to Germany (Muller's triplet). In the quarters, Peru played the best ever Brazil and the match ended 4-2: goals by Rivelino, Tostao (2) and Jairzinho for the Brazilians, Gallardo and Cubillas (5 goals in the World Cup) for the Peruvians.
Peru reached its peak in 1975, with the victory of the Copa América. In the first group stage, he wins Bolivia and Chile thanks to the benefits of Ramírez, Cueto and Rojas. In the semifinal, the Peruvians take their revenge against Brazil with a great victory at home: it was in Belo Horizonte and the match ended 3-1 (Cubillas goals and Casaretto's double), and the Brazilian victory in the second leg was useless.
In the final against Colombia, the teams were forced to play another game, which took place in Caracas and resolved Hugo Sotil.
The great Teofilo Cubillas was named best player of the Copa América 1975.
