In 1990 Croatia became an independent country and started to establish a national football team. They played a first unofficial match agains USA in Zagreb in 1990. In the 1992 the team was admitted to FIFA so they did an exhibition tour in Australia playing their first official games with their red and white checkered shirt. It was the beginning of the National Team who obtained the third place in 1998 World Cup, thanks to great players as Davor Šuker, Robert Jarni, Zvonomir Boban and Mario Stanić.
